Today I have a fantastic guest: Carrie Rubin

Carrie Rubin is a certified health coach and the Founder and CMO (Chief Mom Officer) of The Modern Mom Society, a podcast and blog that provides a space for moms to learn, connect, commiserate, and celebrate motherhood. She lives in Chicago with her husband and two kids, a seven year old girl and a five year old boy.
In this episode she talks to Jen about her 20 year health journey, how critical eating the right foods (and avoiding the wrong ones) is to health, and how simple dietary changes can make you feel better. They also talk alternative therapies, juggling work and family, and how she gets everything in her busy life done.

Carrie’s advice for moms with health issues: Don’t hesitate to get second, third, fourth, or fifth opinions and don’t hesitate to change providers if you don’t feel like you’re making progress or getting the answers you’re looking for. Add alternative and holistic practitioners to your team to complement what you’re doing on the western medicine front, to be sure you’re giving attention to you as a whole and exploring what might be the root cause of your illness as opposed to chasing symptoms. Don’t underestimate the importance of food and its impact on your health and wellness! Minimize or eliminate processed food and eat as close to nature as possible, plus explore if food sensitivities are at play with any of your symptoms. Finally, take care of you first and don’t be ashamed to ask for help!
Carrie’s superpower is: Connecting people and resources and researching and learning as much as I can about something that interests me!
Thank you for listening,
Jen
